Early Erie Canal

In William Wall’s painting “The Erie Canal” the canal is seen from a hill near Randall.
His painting can be see in the Arkell Collection at the Canajoharie Library and Gallery.

Done in an impressionist style, “Following the Towpath”,
by Wadsworth Thompson, (1883) is a gentle scene of
a horse team pulling an old wooden canal barge.
