St. Johnsville Selected as Year 2000 Water System of the Year

The New York Rural Water Association (NYRWA) has selected the Village of St. Johnsville as its Year 2000 Water System of the Year. This award was presented to the Village on May 23, 2000 at New York Rural Water Association’s 21^st Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition in Rochester. Accepting the award of behalf of the Village of St. Johnsville was Jeff Swartz, Chief Operator and Water Superintendent. New York Rural Water Association, a non-profit organization of nearly 1,000 water and wastewater systems, recognized St. Johnsville for three chief reasons. First, NYRWA commended the dedication and professionalism of the Village’s system personnel. Second, NYRWA recognized the successful way that the Village was able to meet the regulatory challenge of updating its water system and providing independent drinking water sources. Finally, St. Johnsville was acknowledged for its future planning, including source water protection.
