<--Diane,
a former secretary, became actively involved in the business in
1976 as a bookkeeper. She has taken courses in accounting, computer
and interior decorating.

<--Paul
joined the firm following graduation from high school in 1979 and
his experience with on-the-job training, combined with business and
retail sales courses are valuable assets to the firm. He has also
taken courses on Marvin windows.

<--Randy
worked in the wholesale building supply business until his full-time
involvement with the family managed company in 1993. A former employee
of several wholesale building supply companies, Randy's experiences
bring a whole new facet to the retail business. In addition, he
has taken courses on GAF roofing materials.

The business
was purchased in 1909 by Clark H. Burkdorf and was originally a sawmill,
then a workshop, specializing in such things as sash building. His son,
Clark P. Burkdorf later joined the business and after Clark P. Burkdorf's
death in 1952, Richard Burkdorf a grandson of Clark H. Burkdorf joined
the firm. Richard purchased the business from his grandfather's estate
in 1971 and operated it until his death in 1991. Richard's sons, Paul
and Randy, and their mother, Diane Burkdorf Littrell are continuing the
family business.
The firm
has two trucks, a freight liner and a Ford pickup for delivery of merchandise.
Customers
from all over the Mohawk Valley area do business with the firm.
The
Burkdorf's
have two steel warehouses and the main building, a light colored concrete
structure which houses the display room, office, warehouse, as well
as a machine room where customer's mill work is done.
